A concerning new trend has been growing among teens with the use of various types of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and nicotine dispensers. While vaping and vape devices are more well known and obvious, Juuls are becoming more and more popular and easier to conceal. Juuls are devices similar in size and appearance to a USB flashdrive; in fact, they even plug into a USB port to charge. Inside the device is a cartridge with a liquid containing nicotine and many other harmful chemicals. Flavors of both Juuls and vapes seem specifically targeted to students. Advertisements and marketing the devices as a healthy alternative to cigarettes also add to the appeal for youths. Below, please find some helpful information to be used in speaking with your child about the dangers and concerns in electronic cigarettes. Hi everyone!
We are Ms. Mawdesley and Ms. Rothschild, and we are excited to find new ways to bring the Madras Middle School counseling program to your home during this time of virtual learning. Every student should have seen our homeroom video presentation to introduce ourselves and our program. If you are a parent, or if you missed the presentation in class, you can find it on this post. Please let us know if you have any concerns or ideas of how we can best support your students this school year. We are excited to get to know students, families, and the Madras community. To find our presentation on google slides, with working links, please click here. To view our presentation, simply view the slideshow below.
