College & Career ResourcesTransition Career Partnerships and Dual Relationships Transition Career Partnerships is designed to prepare students for college and career opportunities leading students to postsecondary institutions for an industry recognized certification or licensure, an associate and/or higher college degree, and successful employment. Georgia has created a singular program known as Dual Enrollment for students in grades 9-12 who qualify to participate. Students may enroll on a part-time or full-time basis as a Dual Enrollment student and take college courses at their high school or on a postsecondary campus. Students will receive high school and college credit simultaneously when attending and passing approved college classes. A concerning new trend has been growing among teens with the use of various types of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and nicotine dispensers. While vaping and vape devices are more well known and obvious, Juuls are becoming more and more popular and easier to conceal. Juuls are devices similar in size and appearance to a USB flashdrive; in fact, they even plug into a USB port to charge. Inside the device is a cartridge with a liquid containing nicotine and many other harmful chemicals. Flavors of both Juuls and vapes seem specifically targeted to students. Advertisements and marketing the devices as a healthy alternative to cigarettes also add to the appeal for youths.
